Join us for a fun afternoon of hand embroidery!
Handwork in quilts has been a topic of discussion and study for our guild, and learning basic hand embroidery skills is a great way to get started. In this relaxed workshop you will learn basic stitches like the back stitch, satin stitch and chain stitch, while working on a block design that can later be used in a quilt, bag, or pillow - or simply framed and hung as art in your home. The workshop fee includes all materials: practice fabric, hoop, needle, embroidery floss, and a pre-printed design panel of your choice.
About the instructor
Our instructor Jennifer Lee is a Palm City resident and the maker behind Red Thread Studios. Inspired by watching her grandmother quilt and crochet when she was a girl, Jen has always enjoyed making things with her hands. When she struggled to find time to sit at her sewing machine, she looked for other ways to be creative. Enter sashiko (Japanese embroidery) and English paper piecing! These mobile stitch crafts allowed Jen to feed her passion for creating even while she is on the go. Jen named her business after an old Chinese proverb that says an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle but will never break. With the modern stitcher in mind, Red Thread Studio offers a unique selection of quality kits, patterns, and fabrics sourced from new and upcoming designers located in the US and abroad.
