Jen with Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts.

Jennifer Lee is a Palm City resident and the maker behind Red Thread Studios. Inspired by watching her grandmother quilt and crochet when she was a girl, Jen has always enjoyed making things with her hands. When she struggled to find time to sit at her sewing machine, she looked for other ways to be creative. Enter sashiko (Japanese embroidery) and English paper piecing!  These mobile stitch crafts allowed Jen to feed her passion for creating even while she is on the go. Jen named her business after an old Chinese proverb that says an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle but will never break. With the modern stitcher in mind, Red Thread Studio offers a unique selection of quality kits, patterns, and fabrics sourced from new and upcoming designers located in the US and abroad.

About the topic

Jennifer Lee will give a one hour lecture about embroidery and her work as Red Thread Studios. She will show us many examples of her hand embroidery (both sashiko and traditional) and her quilts.  After the lecture she will have embroidery kits and supplies available for sale from 11:00-11:30, and we'll have an hour break for lunch before the afternoon workshop begins.
