Workshop Description:

The grid can be an aesthetic used for creating visually compelling quilts. In this workshop students will explore manipulating the grid through color, pattern, repetition, cutting & piecing and proportion & scale.  If you haven't taken a class with Maria before, it's suggested you purchase her book, Improv Patchwork  - Dynamic Quilts Made with Line & Shape, to familiarize yourself with her process before the workshop.  This is a fantastic resource if you don't already own it, even if you have taken classes with her before!  The book can be purchased online through Maria's website or Amazon, or you can check with StitchCraft locally.

About Maria :

Maria Shell’s work is grounded in the tradition and craft of American quilt making. She strives to take the classical components of a traditional bed quilt and manipulate them with the hope of creating surprising combinations of pattern, repetition, and color for the viewer.
