SaturdaY February 17th 2024

Lecture : How to Organize a Maximalist Studio

This is a great lecture where I show you all the nooks and crannies of my studio (and all my creative storage solutions), and discuss how my studio fits my body, my habits, and how my brain thinks. We talk about making sure your space fits YOU and the way YOU think, and why minimalism doesn’t work – with live Q&A session!

Time: 10am EST (approx. 1 hour + Q&A, with regular Guild meeting to follow)

Cost: The lecture is free to members. Zoom link will be sent via email or can be found in Facebook Members Only Group Events

Bio:

I’m Sam Hunter, a fiber artist and quilt pattern designer, and I’m the Chief Everything Officer here at Hunter’s Design Studio. I started sewing when I was 7 and haven’t really stopped since. I spent a lot of time in my teens sewing with my nana on her trusty Singer treadle machine, and embroidering while she knitted. I started quilting in my 20’s, and teaching quilting shortly thereafter. I’m British by birth, and now live in Portland, Oregon, USA. I hold both passports, and can be heard mixing my accents at times. My sense of humor developed through watching Monty Python films and old Doctor Who episodes, so consider yourself warned! I love creative and cheeky wordplay, and I love creating things that use words and text as part of the design. I hold an MFA in Fiber Arts, and blend this classic training with my sense of play in all that I do. I believe that everyone has innate artistic talent, and want to help you find yours. As a teacher, I’m a relaxed, encouraging, and generous, and I love to share the joy of making beautiful things.
