Join us on Saturday May 5th for a 6 hour class with Michelle Wilkie on Improv Shapes and Lines.

Improvisational quilting can be very freeing as there are no rules. This class introduces you to using various shapes, such as circles, triangles, string pieces to make your own unique improvisational quilt composition. Other techniques will also be covered to help you build your composition:

  • Use of color
  • Use of solids vs. prints.
  • Selecting fabrics (Brown paper bag)
  • Various piecing techniques
  • Layout

Duration: 6 hours

Class involves sewing. Machines will be required. There is no kit / pattern for this class. Supply list will be provided once you sign up for the class. 

About Michelle Wilkie

She lives in North Carolina with her husband and 10-year-old son.  She has loved being part of the quilting community and has a passion for Modern Quilting. She started quilting in 2012, and has gained a lot of experience and had many wonderful opportunities in that time. Her favorite part of quilting is designing and turning the design into reality.

She has taught classes of various topics for over 15 years to various audiences (kids, undergraduates to adults).  She now teaches a variety of quilting workshops, covering techniques of Quilt designing, Improvisational Piecing, Hand piecing and more. Michelle is a regular contributor to Love Patchwork & Quilting Magazine and the MQG.

She loves to share her experiences and what she learns via her blog (Factotum of Arts https://factotum-of-arts.com) and Instagram (@ml_wilkie https://instagram.com/ml_wilkie). Some of her other interests include Science Fiction/Fantasy movies and books, photography, traveling and baking/cooking.
