Lecture : Carson Converse - Virtual Trunk Show - Recent Works
This lecture focuses on recent works, with a few pivotal pieces from the archives thrown in. I will spend time talking about each quilt; sharing the backstories, inspiration, concepts, process, technical challenges, and lessons learned. We will cover how I approach minimalism and how color, atmosphere and texture guide my work.
Carson Converse is a visual artist known for her intricately constructed, reductionist quilts. She holds a BFA from Boston University and a MAID (Master of Arts in Interior Design) from Suffolk University. Her work has been published and exhibited internationally including at Salon Art + Design NYC, Salone del Mobile, Quilt National, and in multiple MQG exhibitions. Her quilts have received eleven QuiltCon awards and are in the collection of the International Quilt Museum. In 2023 Converse was recognized as a rising star by Quilting Daily. She currently lives and works near her childhood home in Shelburne Falls, MA. Instagram
