February 2016 Meeting Reminder
January 2016, first meeting of the year.
So you make Quilt Along (QAL) blocks or you win a Block of the Month (BOM) lottery what can you do with those blocks that will look modern and a bit different than the simple grid layout.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the first SFMQG meeting of 2016. Here's what's on the agenda.
Our December meeting was short, but was followed by a very productive Sewcial. Thank you to all who joined us, and to everyone who participated in our QuiltCon Charity Quilt.
We had a packed house at our November meeting! It's wonderful to see so many members and guests joining us each month. Thank you to all who attended our last meeting!
How do we recognize modern fabrics and choose wisely when we are aiming for a modern result? For November’s special topic we will try to answer these questions as we look at fabric design and fabric choices in modern quilts.
Our October meeting was held last Saturday, the 17th at StitchCraft. Thank you to all members and guests who joined us.
Our November BOM is a block designed by Jess of Elven Garden Quilts for the Bee Hive. The Bee Hive is the brainchild of Alyce Blyth of Blossom Heart Quilts - it’s a year long series of block tutorials designed with online quilting bees in mind.
Handwork – Quilt includes at least one element of handwork including, but not limited to: hand piecing, hand quilting, embroidery, redwork, cross stitch, crewel, etc.
This is a paper pieced pattern and is very easy to make.
Our September meeting was held on Saturday, September 19th at StitchCraft.

Modern Traditionalism: Quilt design incorporates the use of an identifiable traditional block pattern and modernizes it by applying design elements such as alternate grid work, asymmetry, color, scale, etc.
