February Meeting Recap

Our February meeting was wonderfully full - full of people, full of ideas and inspiration, full of information, full of fun and best of all full of quilts.

Allison kicked off the meeting with a warm welcome to our newest member, Brenda Zimmerman and visitors: Susan DiBartolo (Miami Beach), Pat LoSecco (Delray Beach), Joanne Thomson Locke (Delray Beach) and Linda Gueli (Boston).

The Icebreaker question

This month was "What is your favorite quilting tool?".

Allison started off the list with her favorite ruler and handle.  Pam can't get by without her 4-1/2 inch square ruler, Joann's favorite tool is the Clover 2-sided threader, Ivy's favorite is her Go Cutter and Patti must have a craft tote to keep her projects together.  Charlotte is all about the pincushions, especially her ring pincushion and the Karen Kay Buckley tiny pins.

Stitchcraft Update

Johanna gave the Stitchcraft update, and there are lots of new things, including Tula Tools, New Wave, Sunprint 2016 from Allison Glass and Hoffman Modern Batiks.

BOM

The February "Wonky Log Cabin" blocks where popular and fun to make, they were displayed on the design boards.  There were so many blocks that we had two drawings.  Shellie and Penny picked two winners out of the participants, Jean Jankovich and Nancy Selzer.  The BOM jelly roll winner was Kathy.

The March block will be a new technique for quilt as you go.

Charity quilting

The community service activity council has started planning quilts for charity.  Susan presented two blocks designs that we will be using for these quilts. The goal is to make 10 lap quilts to donate in our community. The potential recipients are local nursing homes, Manor Care of Boca and Boulevard of Boynton Beach.  There will be "kits" for making blocks available at our next meeting.   These kits were created by during the sewcial after February's meeting.

SHOW AND TELL

And last, our favorite images from show and tell.  Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!

Sewcial

After the General Meeting we had a get together for lunch and sewing.  The Sewcial is a nice way to visit, work on your own project or help with the charity projects.
