2020 SFMQG BEATLES QUILT-ALONG (QAL) with Patti

October 2020 – Month Seven and Finish

Putting it all together with a TWIST: –

During the past six months, we’ve all been on a Magical Mystery Tour, enjoying some of my favorite Beatles songs and stories. However, all good things must come to an end and unfortunately so did the Beatles as a group. Most people blame Yoko Ono for the break up of the group but there were other internal forces at play that eventually caused the split-up.

However, this didn’t stop John, Paul, George and Ringo from continuing to make music. They founded new groups and collaborated with other musicians to produce countless hits over the years.

This month, you’re going to SPLIT two of your blocks in half. (signifying the splitting of the four Beatles) and then you will get to put your divided blocks together as you see fit. You may ADD to your blocks as you deem necessary. You can add coordinating solids to enhance and expand your blocks. My suggestion is to put the blocks on your design wall and step back. Add additional fabrics as needed. I take pictures of my blocks with my phone (sometimes using the black and white filter) in order to see the visual and graphic images of my choice. Look for areas of movement vs areas of quiet. You don’t want every single block to look the same. You may step back and leave your blocks for a day or so, and then return with fresh eyes. Sew your blocks together and finish as desired.

IMPORTANT: We want to see your Beatles QAL contributions! Don’t forget to post your finished blocks/tops/quilt in time for the November meeting. Send your pics to Charlotte and also send an email to Patti in order to be eligible for a cool participation prize (not a trophy but something way more Beatle-ish).

See QAL webpage for all the links - you have lots of time to catch-up if you wish.
