Countdown to BQE FUN

BQE (Broward Quilt Expo) is less than 2 months away - March 9-11, 2017! This is the first time that SFMQG is a member of the BQE. This is our show and we are going to have FUN! Let me count the ways...

  1. SFMQG Modern Mini Madness Exhibit at the January 21st SFMQG general meeting. Special Show & Tell with raffle prizes and a cool button. Each modern mini you donate will get a raffle ticket. See Blog for details. Print and fill out the mini entry form and attach with safety pin to the back of your quilt. Make sure you attend the BQE Mini Quilt Auction Saturday March 11th at 3pm!

  2. Sherri Lynn Wood Lecture and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at 7pm. Space is limited so purchase your $10 ticket now. You don’t want to miss it.

  3. Sherri Lynn Wood workshops. Only a few spaces left in her three workshops. Can’t wait to get my Wedge Curve On!

  4. Quilt Entry : Let’s fill the building with wonderful quilts to admire. We have many talented artists in our guild - let’s show off! There is a new Modern Design category but you can specify the category that best represents your quilt(s). Remember you can enter your Negative Space Challenge, StitchCraft Challenge and Mancuso exhibit quilts. Sorry Palm Beach Show exhibit quilts are excluded. Entering online is so very easy.

  5. Challenge Quilt contest for Jazz show theme. Create a quilt that speaks to theme. Sherri Lynn Wood score fans - this is for you!

  6. BQE-tique is the first place I go when the show opens to find treasures that another guild members want to sell. So if you have some quilty items that you wish to put out there for cash see BQE-tique details. Note that you can’t include items that the vendors will be selling like books, patterns or fabric. Traditional UFOs are popular. BQE representatives will be attending our January meeting to discuss details.  If you are de-stashing and would like to donate items to SFMQG we will take care of the BQE-tique paperwork and delivery/pickup and use the resulting funds for our fundraising efforts. Just bring to January and/or February meeting and give to Charlotte.

  7. The show will need volunteers and at the January general meeting the BQE representative will be asking members to signup for certain jobs. SFMQG will also need members to represent our guild and sell tickets at the Charity Quilt ticket table. Consider helping out - it’s a great way to meet new quilters.

There is a special page with Information for Sponsoring Guild Members that is very useful.

Hope to see you at the January 14th Sew Day. Work on your mini, quilt entry, BOM, Make-Do Challenge or whatever you wish.
