SFMQG 2020 CHALLENGE - Through Your Modern Eyes

Welcome to this year’s challenge. Should you choose to participate, you will find your inspiration by reviewing the work of an artist you admire from any time period. Your challenge is to interpret that artist’s style and design your quit to reflect the style but NOT be a literal copy of any of that artist’s work. In deciding which artist inspires you, you might consider color, palette, line, shape, form light, shade, contrast, and subject matter. Now interpret it in a modern way and make it your own!

Your finished piece can be any shape (square, rectangular, round, irregular) but it must consist of 3 layers: top, batting and backing. Quilt it in your preferred style. It must include a 4” hanging sleeve and a label with your name, the title of your piece, and the artist who inspired you. (Feel free to add any other details to your label.)

Finished Size: Minimum of 24” on any one side
Maximum of 48” on any one side

Minimum Perimeter: 96”
Maximum Perimeter: 192”

Challenge Pieces due just before the November 21 meeting.

Please email JudyS if you have any questions.
