SFMQG June Meeting Summary
Lecture - Karen Bolan - Engineer your Quilts
⦁ Former engineer, demonstrates how designing and creating a quilt carries parallels with engineering, i.e. in planning the project, identifying constraints, defining success.
⦁ Recommends use of Layout App - app for phone that takes images and puts them onto a grid.
⦁ Fresco app helps with the quilt design and creates a video of all attempted designs.
⦁ Use of PreQuilt to change color mock-ups
⦁ Fave Machine - Uses Brother straight-stitch only - Nouvelle 1500 - great for free-motion and walking-foot quilting
⦁ Has a long-arm - Gammill Classic
⦁ Favorite fabric: everything! solids, especially shot cottons. But any print with a cat on it too!

⦁ Would like for folks to complete blocks for charity quilts - collected throughout the year, mainly at end of year - will sew up together.

⦁ Sew Day tomorrow at AJ’s clubhouse in Parkland from 12-4. She supplies iron, ironing board, cutting mat.
