2024 Block of the Month Game - June - FPP Woven star
Welcome to June BOM!
This month let’s try something new. This might even mean “let’s step out of your comfort zone”…It’s Foundation Paper Piecing time!
Here is an easy- and free-pattern that MarilynH brought to my attention.
The Woven Star is a 10.5”x 10.5” block. It is made of four units. Each unit is made by joining together triangle “A” and triangle “B”.
Note:
The FPP pattern needs to be printed (as in “using a printer”). Because you’ll need to repeat the “A” and “B” units four times each to prepare the block, I recommend printing on freezer paper. You could alternately use Fun-dation paper or actual “paper”, piece the units and tear the Fun-dation/paper after.
Fabric:
There is only one rule for the fabric: use white fabric for sections A2 and B2. For the other sections, A1/B1, A3/B3. A4/B4 You may either choose the same fabric, go with two fabrics (like I did), or pick three fabrics (as per pattern).
Technique:
As much I love working on the BOM, preparing step by step tutorials with pictures every month, I can’t for the life of me write down the procedure for FPP. At least not as well as what can be found on YouTube. For this reason, I invite you to follow these links to helpful tutorials.
