Community Quilts 2018!
Welcome to our new project for 2018. This year we are focusing on Nursing Home lap quilts and have decided on a pattern that will help you destash your scraps. The quilts will be a modern take on the French Braid (or herringbone) pattern.
To get a head start, cut strips that are 2 ½ inches wide by 10 inches long. These will be assembled into the French braid strips. Complete instructions will be provided at our January meeting and can be found on the blog here. Make your strip collection as scrappy as you like!
This year we will be donating the charity quilts to Menorah House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boca Raton, Florida
QUILTING WITHOUT INJURY
Looking ahead to February's meet, Alaine Blessman will present valuable information on avoiding carpal tunnel, how to set up your sewing station ergonomically, preventing back pain while sewing, and stretches to perform when you have a marathon sewing session.
Alaine is a candidate for a PhD in Physical Therapy. Please complete her on line survey "Quilting without injury". Hard copies of the survey will also be available at our January meeting.
Enjoy the cool weather
