MEETING MINUTES
Cathy opened meeting at 1pm. Dual meeting at Boca Raton Community Center & online.
Attendance : 54 members - 16 in house + 38 on zoom. Some of the in house members attended Sew Day starting at 9am.
Presentation regarding sewing machine maintenance:
Laura David opened a new hometown quilt shop - Laura’s Sewing and Quilts. They have other stores in Port St. Lucie, Palm Beach Gardens. Many of our members have shopped their previously. It opened on September 24th.
Will have some classes starting up in January.
15% off fabric for any guild member. Sale going on until 12/23 - 35% off for any guild member.
Got Moda, blenders, Bella solids.
They sell King Star metallic threads - state this is the nicest metallic thread on the market.
They carry Aurifil thread - larger spools.

2023 BOM sneak-peek: “row your quilt”
First row due by mid-February
Needs to be a rowed quilt
10 months of sewing
You get to decide what you put into your rows.
Each row should include 2 of the same fabrics for continuity
Can use one fabric as a background, (or not)
Aim for a 60-inch square
10 rows x 6.5 inches unfinished
January is a planning month
Feb - Nov are sewing months
December - put quilt together. Annual drawing in January 2024 for the finished tops.
There are free patterns, along with block resources, on the website.
BQE Update - (AJ + Cathy)
Website is open, taking submissions
Submit your quilt. Still have the raffle going on to get it quilted at the show.
Each raffle ticket is $5, 50% of the proceeds go to those affected by Hurricane Ian.
BQE pins are in - only 100. Starting in January our volunteer coordinator will visit the guilds to sign up.
Still looking for contributions to sell
Cannot be something the vendors would be selling. (Handmade items are open)
Guild will need a volunteer coordinator for BQE. Responsibility is to recruit volunteers and fill in a chart to make sure the table is staffed at BQE.

Jan 28th 2023 Workshop - Laura Loewen - Mind's Eye View Spaces Available for all.
Need to have membership dues current in order to sign up for workshops.
Ticket sales will start in early January for March’s quilted postcard workshop.

2023 Renewals due by January 31st 2023. 90 members have renewed. Waiting for 55 members to respond.
Renew by January 14th 2023 to win a prize. Winner will be drawn at the January meeting.
2023 membership list will be finalized and synced up with National MQG site @Feb 1st 2023.

SOS Children’s Village - delivering there in January
Up to 102 quilts as of today, but getting some more too.
Will be taking ½ to children’s foster home and the others to the nursing home.

Susan will be charity coordinator for next year. Will focus on BQE 1st part of the year and charity quilts for the second part.
