SYNOPSIS

  • Education: Member Deborah K delivered a presentation on the late Gwen Marston, which comprised examples of Gwen’s work and contributions to the quilt world. It was very interesting! Many members were inspired by Marston’s work and got sewing. Deborah also showed quilts she’s made inspired by Marston’s work or created during one of Marston’s workshops.

  • Workshop: The Liberated Houses workshop, which will happen in October, has only TWO SPOTS OPEN. Grab yours now. The workshop will be led by member Deborah K and is clearly inspired by Gwen Marston’s work.

  • BOM: We have a new BOM from Catherine inspired by a parking structure and its very Miami paint job. Will it yield as many as the prior month’s paper piecing challenge?

  • QAL: Patti has led another fun QAL called Circling the Brain. Next month we can see all the finished (or WIPs) as the project comes to a close with September’s meeting.

  • Show and Tell:  Members Patti, Charlotte, Judy, and Elizabeth were busy finishing up some awesome quilts! Kristin showed a mini with the three hanging options (rather quickly), but a full blog post can be accessed about them. Plus, the guild will be supplying the hanging supplies, we just need your quilts!

  • QuiltCon charity quilt kits were distributed as well as Me+You fabric challenge bundles. Contact AJ if you need either one.
