This fall, the South Florida Modern Quilt Guild has been working on designing and assembling our Charity Quilt for the Modern Quilt Guild’s QuiltCon Charity Quilt Challenge.
The Modern Quilt Guild set the color palette, and theme, which is scale. A few of our members got together to come up with our inspiration and some potential designs for the quilt. We decided to use a South Beach lifeguard stand as our quilt’s inspiration.
On October 8th, we had a sew day at Patch Reef park to assemble the blocks. Members worked to make improv-pieced blocks for different elements in our quilt, in different sizes.
Thank you to all who made our October 8th Sew Day a success!
Next month, on November 12th, we’ll meet again to assemble the top and piece the back. We will be meeting at Patch Reef Park at 10am.
If you’re able to help, we will need help with the layout, piecing, pressing, and trimming. We’ll also need help piecing the back and cutting strips for the binding. Please email me (kate@southfloridamqg.com) if you’re able to attend, and if you’ll be able to help with piecing the top & back, cutting fabric, pressing, or arranging a layout.
We look forward to seeing you there!
