2020 QuiltCon Charity Quilt Challenge SFMQG Call for Designs

qc1.jpg

Each year the Modern Quilt Guild (MQG) offers a Quiltcon Charity Quilt Challenge to all its member guilds with a theme. The theme for the 2020 challenge is TEXT.

After Quiltcon 2020 (Austin) the quilts are returned back to each guild. Quilts are then donated to a charity. Our charity quilts, from the last two challenges, are being donated to the Quilters Dream Batting Hopes and Dreams Challenge for ALS.

The guild is asking for design ideas. You do not have to make the quilt. The Guild will be providing all fabric. Debbie K has generously offered her quilting services and AJ has offered to piece and bind the quilt. Quilt blocks will be distributed at the Aug & Sept meetings for those who wish to sew a block or two or even more. The finished quilt must be submitted by the end of the year.

Since this is a group project, please remember to think about how your design can be executed by several people - so please consider skill level and ease of block making.

But it all starts with a design. If you have a design or concept, we want to see it. A rough sketch is fine, a computer drawing great, or just words to describe your idea will also be accepted. All the design ideas will be presented at the July meeting for group input and selection.

Please submit your idea, sketch and concept by July 8th to president@southfloridamqg.com

The details on this challenge are here.
