MEETING MINUTES
Cathy opened mtg at 1pm. Dual meeting at Boca Raton Community Center & online.
Attendance : 59 members - 12 in house + 47 on zoom. Some of the in house members attended Sew Day starting at 9am.
Cathy introduced speaker Sarah Ruiz - Inspiration to Quilt Sarah Ruiz spoke about how her design inspiration influenced her quilt process.
Treasurer : AJ - report will be sent in.
Challenge: AJ - What’s your Stitch? Your choice as to size (up to 30x30”) and what stitches to use. Mix hand and machine stitches. Push yourself in a new direction. Experiment. Photos due 11/16, the Wednesday prior to November mtg. Viewers choice 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes to be awarded.
QAL : Patti - Whirligig Reveal. See Gallery on website. : QAL. Challenge completed today with Show & Tell of 15 participants who completed their whirligig quilt tops. 3 winners randomly chosen: CathyW, SuzanneE & NancyK won charm packs. Participation gifts were sent out - thanks to Patti our QAL Queen!
QuiltCon: Registration started. Check out quilt submission information.
BQE : 4/15-16/23 Deadline 3/6 for entering quilts, 3/16 quilt drop off, 3/17-19 judging. 4/14 hanging quilts. Guild needs Volunteer coordinators.
BQE Quiltique : Allison will collects all projects made to date at September mtg. All funds go to guild.
DIY BOM - Cathy : There were 9 participants and JaneA was chosen for gift certificate.
Charity - SusanC & Chris : (Maureen spoke in Susan’s absence). 31 quilts so far, need lots more. The population of both charities were donating to are: 72 children’s beds in the shelter and 120 beds in the nursing facility. All info is on website.
Membership : Charlotte - Welcome 10 new members - 142 members total - WOW! AliceH, CharleneM, MaryS, BarbaraR, KellyK, PatriciaS, JudithK, BarbaraF, DianneM, SharonB. Dues for new members through year end is now prorated at $30.
