2021-11 SFMQG Revised Bylaws for Review
Members of the South Florida Modern Quilt Guild will be asked to approve bylaw revisions supported by the board at the Nov. 20, 2021 General Meeting.
SFMQG Bylaw Revision Highlights
Article 1: Adds Florida incorporation information, replaces a nondiscrimination clause with an expanded diversity, equity and inclusion clause to conform with recent MQG changes)
Article 3: Introduces a name change from Executive Council to Board of Directors, which is what we’ve been using. Eliminates the no-reelection clause, which we violated this year. Adds a clause stating: Missing three consecutive board meetings constitutes resignation from the board. (This hasn’t been an issue with SFMQG, but it is with other organizations.) Eliminates a paper ballot requirement for officer elections due to virtual meetings. Introduces wording change from Activity Councils to Volunteer Coordinators.
Article 4: Changes to monthly instead of quarterly board meetings. Authorizes special-purpose board meetings.
Article 5: Reduces Activity Council/Volunteer Coordinator section to a summary.
Article 6: Drops the General clause.
Article 7: Retitled Guild Treasury. Raises expense approval requirement from $25 to $75.
Article 9: Retitled to Bylaw Amendments. Adds an email requirement for proposed changes. Rewords majority approval sentence.
Revision History: Moves re-election of treasurer from Addendum to Revisions. Adds the September change dropping Florida residency requirement for membership.
