BEATLES QUILT-ALONG

Introduction:
Welcome to the South Florida MQG Quilt-Along 2020. Our theme this year will be the Beatles. As you know, the Beatles were monumental both musically and historically. Our QAL will feature some of my favorite Beatles songs as we explore them through design and fabric. Hang on as we take our Magical Mystery Tour.
REQUIREMENTS:
This quilt will be modern and abstract. You will be designing your quilt yourself with prompts and inspirations from music and events from the Beatles.
Start gathering your fabrics now! This QAL is scrap friendly. Make sure to have some solids on hand. I suggest using one color or theme of fabrics in order to have your quilt top cohesive. This is fat quarter or layer cake friendly! Have some of your favorite solids or low volume neutrals on hand as well. QAL is 6 months. Each block will finish 18.5 inches square.
The last clue goes out at the October meeting and reveal is in November 2020. There will be a show and tell with prizes and members will hold up their quilt tops or finished projects and talk about them. It’s for sure that Patti will do something special as always.
April 2020 – Month One
Eight Days a Week –
This song was written by Paul McCartney and inspired by a phrase he heard his chauffeur say – that he was working so hard he was working “eight days a week. It was also the first popular song that featured a “fade out” on radio.
Your first block will be inspired by the number Eight. You will use your fabric to create a block with eight motives. You can make eight circles, eight squares, eight diamonds, etc. Just as long as your block features eight.
Due at next meeting - either show at May meeting or post online.
