MEETING MINUTES
Brenda, President, opened meeting, welcomed everybody and thanked AJ for Zoom hosting.
AJ, Treasurer, announced we have appox $8,500 in the bank so we will be spending money on programming and workshops for foreseeable future. Suggested we invite friends from other guilds to join us at prorated July dues of only $30. This will add to our coffers and enable additional programming in future.
Charlotte, Membership, announced new members. Welcomes were called out.
Catherine, BOM, showed the block for next month called Red Hot Cocoa. Directions are on webpage.
Patti, QAL, explained the QAL for the new members and then explained this month’s inspiration, Twist and Shout, Beatles version. She told the story about John Lennon recording the song. Suggested quilt pattern provided. Details on webpage. There is now a QAL website tab at the top of the website which lists all QAL blog links for easier reference - thanks AJ for suggestion.
Susan, Charity Quilts, asked members to continue making placemats for meals on wheels and lap quilts. She requested that we don’t use white or holiday fabrics. She will advise when she will collect and distribute our items. Check out Charity tab on website
AJ, Attendance Raffle. AJ’s husband chose a random name. Kristen won 3 fat quarters. Sandy will mail them to her.
Sherry, Education, announced Suzy Quilts video on her chain piecing method for an entire quilt. Afterwards there was a short discussion. Brenda for Nicole, Events, spoke of virtual lecturers and workshops planned through the end of 2020. See FUTURE SCHEDULE below for list of meetings, virtual lectures and workshops. Events with complete details will be created on the website in the near future. Stay tuned for emails.
Judy, Challenge, would like to hear from those who are participating, requesting participants to email her. There is now a Challenge tab at the top of the website with a link to the website blog
AJ, Re Batting video from BQE, lead a short conversation. members knew 2 places to get Hobbs. See Education Information.
Charlotte created a website gallery with pictures from Facebook members only group and pictures email to her for Show & Tell divided into categories, ie: QAL, BOM’s, etc. See pics below. This is easier than members trying to show off their work on the zoom screen although they can can still do that if desired. As AJ showed them on her zoom screen the member could talk about them if desired. We will do this again for July zoom meeting so keep posting to Facebook group or email to charlotte.

Sat, Aug 22nd Map Making with Fabrics virtual workshop with Timna Tarr. Pre-recorded classes with two live Q&A sessions (half hour each) at 10am & 1pm, and a members-only Show &Tell at 3pm. Fee for class and Q&A. Members discount and first choice.

Sat, Oct 17th 1-2pm Japan 2.0 – The Next Gen Quilters virtual lecture with Teresa Duryea Wong. Free for members with regular Zoom guild meeting to follow.
Sat, Nov 7th Maze Quilt with Malka Dubrawsky 10am to 1pm Live Zoom workshop. Fee for workshop including free pattern Maze: 46” x 40”. Members discount and first choice.

The SFMQG has monthly Zoom meetings the 3rd Saturday 1pm-3pm. All of the above with details will be available soon in the Events tab on our website. Membership is pro-rated July at $30 for the rest of 2020 which also includes membership in the national MQG. Anyone can join online and participate no matter where you are during 2020.
