2024 Challenge : Quilt Your Book QAL #4 Surface Design

Quilt Your Book QAL #4 Surface Design

Quilt Your Book #4

This month’s book block theme is “Surface Design,” inspired by our recent “Mark Making” workshop with Mel Beach. And the work of Deborah Boschert, art quilter.

Both artists use Surface Design techniques.

What is Surface Design? According to Julie Booth, a surface design teacher for The Art League, surface design is any technique that manipulates or changes the surface of a fabric. This would include painting, dyeing, printing/stamping, stenciling, applying resists, stitching, embellishing (e.g. adding beads), collaging, weaving, etc.”
