QUILT-ALONG SECOND MONTH – APRIL 2022
Soooo, how’s it going? Everybody getting the hang of making “made fabric”? I’ve been SO excited to see the beautiful “made fabric” blocks that everyone has been posting to our Facebook page and on Instagram. Keep up the awesome making! Any questions or problems, please post on our SFMQG Facebook page or email Patti
We are continuing to make our “made fabric” blocks this month. Your assignment is to make four more 12 1/12 inch blocks for a total of eight blocks all together.
Some Helpful Hints:
1. Sometimes the best “made fabric” is created without a lot of thought – just reacting to the color and print of the fabric. Does it look a little too purpley over here? Maybe add some raspberry or pink. That blue making you feel a little too blue? How can you lighten the mood? Maybe add that slice of your fabric fussy cut fabric that’s not big enough for anything else (but you can’t get rid of). Don’t forget to add your dollops and slivers of your background fabric. This will really make your blocks “pop” when you finally put the quilt together.
2. Keep in mind that your made fabric blocks need some contrast or else they will end up looking “muddy” when we use them to put our quilt together (unless a subtle look is what you’re going for).
In case you’re going down the whirligig rabbit hole – did you know there’s a yearly Whirligig Festival in North Carolina? Check out this link for more inspiration!
Don’t forget to post your quilt blocks to our Facebook Group and your Instagram page with the hashtag #sfmqgqal2022
