DID YOU KNOW …?
There is a show on the Create channel called Why Quilts Matter?
Not many of us get the Create channel, so here’s a link to view on YouTube.
You can print your own fabric by hand, by shibori technique, and more! Visit IS Projects for all the details.
We had a photo booth set up featuring two heart quilts (made by Patti Auten and Diane Moss) where we took some fun member photos complete with props! See photo gallery below alongside World Quilt gallery!
SYNOPSIS
We presented our former president, Susan, with a member made quilt of tumbling spools as a thank you for her service. And a big thanks goes to everyone who served last year in other roles, too!
After a successful World Quilt exhibit, Charlotte is stepping down as exhibit chair to make room for another member to fill the role. Thank you Charlotte for all the years of exhibiting! Any takers? Please contact AJ.
BQE: It was the last update before the big week! The show has a need for volunteers to help with the expo. Also, buy your tickets to the show (and subtly rebranded craft market) now!
Education: AJ delivered Nicole’s findings of the machine maintenance survey. Some of us have already put our pipe cleaners to work and started cleaning.
BOM: Catherine presented a new one called Eye of the Beholder, which is inspired by a building in Miami for February (due in March).
Snack and Shop Intermission visit Destash table with Loriann Esposito.
Events: Isabella shared quilt samples from our fellow member Rayna Gillman. Sign up for May 4th Improvising with Rectangles and 5th Non-pattern Paper Piecing.
Future:
A directory is to come of our members for our members. Get your dialing fingers stretched and ready!
Batting samples requested by Debbie K. for a future discussion about quilting.Show and Tell: We saw some wonderful modern quilts, boro-style quilts, awesome travel bags, and some freshly aired from the successful Airing of the Quilts show at Stranahan House.
It’s Quiltcon time! Many members are en route to Nashville—safe travels to all. And many members are experiencing FOMO at the prospect. [Edit: Or maybe just this girl is. :sniff:]
High fives and sweet bindings,
Kristin Beck, 2019 Secretary
