SFMQG ELECTRIC QAL 2023 Month #5
Hello, hello my QAL buddies! Missing everyone today as I’m on a long-awaited vacation. It’s time for the next installment of the SFMQG Electric Quilt-A-Long.
It’s time, it’s time, it’s time to finish our Electric top! Some of you have already taken a right turn and are working on your tops where they are. These instructions will be for those following the actual Electric top instructions.
At this point, you should have two columns consisting of the staggered wonky stars (offset by background fabric so they “sparkle” and show movement). You will also have the major “electric” star block (with the sun surrounding it) which measures approximately 22 inches wide. I sewed a wonky star block to the bottom of the electric center block. I had to add background fabric to each side of the remaining wonky star to make it wide enough to add to the wider electric “sunny” block
Now you should have two columns of staggered wonky stars which measure around 18 inches wide and approximately 31 inches long, as well as the center section with the electric “sunny” star block and the wonky block measuring approximately 37 inches by 22 inches. The electric “sunny” part will go on the top with the wonky star part on the bottom. Each strip of wonky stars will be sewn to each side.
And. . . just like that. . . your SFMQG Electric quilt top is done! You are celebrating Venus and Mars becoming the quilting STAR that you are!
Now that your quilt top is finished, we will be having our final reveal at the August meeting. Make sure to send a picture of your finished quilt TOP to Patti at patriciaauten@bellsouth.net and to charlotte@southfloridamqg.com to add to our gallery. As usual, we will have our reveal and each participant will receive a special little something-something via Mr. Postman for participating.
Any questions about the directions? Need any input or suggestions? Please reach out to me at patriciaauten@bellsouth.net or on the SFMQG Members page (or through Facebook messenger).
Whoooaa, we’re almost there!!
