Sewtastic basket

The Sewtastic basket was back this month filled with great items.  This is a way to support the guild and to win some fun quilting stuff. Please continue to bring in donations of modern quilt fabric or quilt related items that could be included in the next basket.  Our winner this month is new member Suzanne McGee!

Quiltcon Charity quilt

Kate showed off the completed top for the SFMQG entry for the 2017 Quiltcon Charity quilt.  We will be completing this quilt over the next several weeks to send to Savannah for Quiltcon.

Presidents talk

Allison spoke about the website and upcoming membership renewals and benefits.  The voting and survey is complete. The first issue to divide the VP of Programs into two new positions the VP of Events and VP of Education has passed.  The second issue of consideration to become independent of the national MQG showed that a majority of members are interested in this idea, so a Task Force will prepare a proposal for a final vote.  There are two new Activity Council participants: Debbie Krajkowski will be leading the "Demo of the Month" and Kate Yates will be the Participation leader.

Five year anniversary

This month marks five years that we have been meeting as a modern quilt guild.  VP of Programs Charlotte Noll gave a slide show presentation with a recap and pictures from each of our previous years.  It was interesting to see what we have accomplished and done.  Nicole Kaplan, our founder, spoke about how she started the guild and left us with a lovely and inspirational thought "Bringing something beautiful, one stitch at a time".  Kerrilyn, Debby, Kathy and Jennifer also talked about how they joined the guild.  During intermission we had a huge buffet of goodies to celebrate, highlighted with cupcakes made by Moncia Peacock's daughter Moriah, topped with a pinwheel favor and a special button.

Holiday Swap

This is the second year that we have done a swap for the holidays.  We had 27 members participate in this year's swap.  For the swap we made a cute present using the guild pinterest inspiration board and wrapped it up to be exchanged at the meeting.

QAL

The 2016 QAL is complete and members shared their tops or completed quilts in a special show and tell.  Check out the pictures in the gallery slide show below.

BOM

The "Flowering Snowball" was the last BOM for 2016 and the Kerrilyn O'Rourke was the jackpot winner.  She won the blocks, the jelly roll and a new special prize for making the most blocks.

Show and Tell

The meeting was finished off with the members show and tell.  We love to see your projects.
