SATURDAY APRIL 16TH, 2016
1 PM - 3 PM
PATCH REEF COMMUNITY CENTER
2000 W. YAMATO ROAD, BOCA RATON
Doors open at 12:30 for a little time to sign in, turn in your BOM, QAL boxes, Community Service blocks and socialize. The meeting begins promptly at 1 PM, and we will have a one hour Sewcial after the meeting for anybody who would like to work on the charity quilts or their own projects.
Our quilt-y question this month is:
"How many sewing machines do you own and what kind?"
Quilt Along
Bring the traveling box and your completed block number two. You can show off your blocks and then it will be time to swap the boxes, again. Read about the QAL launch, first block and second block.
Community Service
Please bring any blocks, tops and quilts that you have been working on for our Lap quilt project. Help us get to 10 quilts in 2016! The current completed quilt count is 1.
Special Topic
A presentation by Tonya Ricucci of her Word Play Quilts technique for improv pieced letter blocks.
Upcoming Events and BQE Report
An update on what is happening in the modern quilting world and what is coming up for SFMQG at BQE.
Block of the Month
Bring your completed Wonky Stars blocks to display. Also, bring jelly roll strips (2.5 inches x 18+ inches) in this month’s color palette, or black & white. We will have a raffle for a lucky participant to win the blocks or the jelly roll created from last month's color palette.
Show & Tell
Bring your modern quilts and sewing projects to share and show off.
Sewtastic Basket
Please bring items to donate to the raffle basket. We would appreciate: Fat quarters or yardage (modern fabrics only please!), sewing notions, gift cards, quilting magazines or books - modern themes please!, bags of good sized scraps - modern fabrics only please!
We look forward to seeing everyone next Saturday!
